Top Tips for a Sober Life, in FLOW

Top Tips for a Sober Life, in FLOW

Out walking on a grey wet day, nestled among the winter debris, I saw a patch of beautiful snow drops.

A perfect patch of deceptively delicate white flowers, in their perfect size and perfect shape, sturdy and strong in the elements, just doing what they do, growing in the natural flow of life.

And it really struck me, as I watched them unperturbed to be surrounded by mess and mud, how always continues to just flow, regardless of external influences, people, places, and /or situations, and the easiest way to life in peace and ease, is simply to stay in the flow you cannot change, you cannot slow down, you cannot project forward, or bring back the past, or even shift the direction of.

Life does what it does. It starts, it flows, it grows, it ends. And so the cycle repeats itself.

By staying in the flow of life means you are always moving forward, with what you have in the present moment.

Not staying in flow, means dragging your past, fearing your future.

Not being in flow takes from you.

It saps your energy, it exhausts you, it makes life hard, too hard, and so you drink, or eat, or gamble or shop – you learn to take an action to ease the ‘hardness’ of life.

Life in flow, life is easier, past hurts and pains are let go in your slip stream, fears of your future don’t exist, you are only in the present moment, enjoying the ride.

Changing your action of drinking (or eating/shopping/gambling) is as easy, and as natural as the flow of life.

So here are my TOP TIPS to support you let go of pain, stay in the flow of life, and release your need to drink, effortlessly.

  • Notice when your feelings shift from life feeling easier, to life feeling hard (that is when you step out of the flow of life). Scan your body, check in with any contracted feelings, where are they? In your stomach, your shoulder?
  • Take long slow, deep breathes (a lovely tip is to make the exhale longer),
  • Focus on your contracted area and send LOVE there, shine warm, healing love on your contraction (they are your fears) and feel the expansion and relief in the light of your attention and care – you will be amazed at the shift from this simple exercise.
  • List all of the people and things you are profoundly Grateful for, even if they are no longer with you, be Grateful for the gift they were in your life
  • Look for beauty, it is everywhere – in the faces of your children, in a smile, in a bird in the tree, in the rain – you just have to LOOK
  • Create food that has beauty in its nourishment, choose calming herbal teas – add a drop of honey for a real treat.
  • Rest when you need to, read a book, watch Netflix – the washing up can wait, you needs can’t.

When you take responsibility to gift yourself the time to do these easy, self-loving tips, you will regain the simple peace in your life, that will see you through, keep you connected, resilient and the woman you deserve to be without any need for a drink to make you ‘feel better’

If my words resonate, if you ‘get’ my energy, my way of thinking, I am the right person to help you and you can change your drinking, effortlessly, from your first session.

There is a clear structure to your drinking, and it is universal, and a clear structure to your release, also universal, and I bring every aspect of it in awareness and the easy steps to freedom, together for you in my unique, simple, 6 week, 1-2-1 package, The Rapid Alcohol Recovery Method, coaching process that gifts you a ‘magical’ transformation, with grounded practical, self-loving roots that support you whatever life throws.

I use the word ‘magical’ intentionally, because I understand completely that you are a powerful interwoven mixture of the physical and spiritual, and that all aspects of who you are, and what you need, has to be in loving alignment for you to find peace for you to be free of your drinking pain, and that is why my clients enjoy huge success without any struggle or stress – ultimately, you are re-connected with the wonder of you.

My work is NEW, not hard, and there is a very big difference in the energy and ‘effort’ involved.

If now is your time, contact me. You only have TODAY to make the changes you deserve to ensure a peaceful, loving tomorrow.

“I am so proud and happy in who I am, your process is amazing, I enjoy a glass of wine or two, sometimes even three and then I STOP, easily. I want to recommend you to EVERYONE. It is not a ‘cost’, it is an investment in my life”

Finally, if you would like to understand more about my journey from 28 years of alcoholism, to peaceful freedom, take a look at my internationally acclaimed book, This Isn’t Me (click on the link HERE).I wrote it for my son, as an apology for his younger years, and as an attempt to explain the un-explainable.

How Have You DECIDED To Drink?

How Have You DECIDED To Drink?

You know that your drinking has to change. It just has to.

You are heartsick of waking up feeling dehydrated, disappointed, and frustrated that your promise to drink one glass, ended up being one bottle (again).

You feel overwhelmed before you are even out of bed at the day ahead, too tired to deal with the kids, snappy and impatient where you want to be loving, hugging, re-assuring to them, and to you. You look at their trusting faces, and want to weep. And you know you cannot continue to live like this.

You are hurt. Your family are hurt. And your drinking leaves you feeling less of the woman you dream of being. So you decide (again), to end your awful drinking cycle

So, what decisions have you made around your drinking?

  • Have you decided to stop completely?

Or, like most of my clients who now have peace and freedom around alcohol,

  • Have you decided that you are going to enjoy a social drink, without any fear of relapse, safe in the knowledge that alcohol has no power over you, and you have no emotional attachment to a bottle of liquid?

And having made a decision that truly sits with you,

  • What is your plan to achieve it?
  • What steps are you going to take?

Many incredible women opt for a method that involves forms of ‘mindful‘ drinking. Do you do that too?

Does your plan involve counting units, marking off days on a calendar or phone app when you don’t drink, and marking on days where you will allow yourself a drink?

Being mindful of what/how much you drink, rather than mindful of when/why you drink?

There’s a BIG difference and, it is one of the differences that makes the difference……..

Do you spend a lot of energy and effort spent focusing on alcohol being the problem to be contained and controlled?

Energy that takes from you on the days you need it most, when you are tired, lower, feeling unappreciated, or more alone.

And those are the day when control, of any sort, goes out the window.

Do you recognise you here?

Why? Because you drink in a way you don’t like, feel you have no control over, for one reason and ONE reason only.

To ‘feel better’ and that craving to deliver your ‘feeling better’ is the driver of your drinking.

So when you are in need of ‘feeling better’, and you then try to deny yourself your learnt method of comfort, alcohol, the more energy you need to expend on trying to place control and restrictions on what you drink, and the more you want to drink, (here’s your stop/start cycle simplified).

You are focusing completely on what you don’t want to do, and that focus makes the desire even stronger. Agreed?

You need to take steps that take nothing from you, and gift you the peace and freedom you deserve.

You need to re-connect with your basic needs of warmth, safety, nourishment, connection – can you see, maybe for the first time, that these can be applied beyond just your physical self?

There is a clear structure to your drinking, that is the same as every other person who struggles to change the way they drink, and there is a clear, easy structure to changing it, for you and for anyone else who struggles.

That knowledge is why my clients enjoy such huge, effortless success.

And here is another simple truth, learned from my own truly effortless and joyful sudden recovery after 28 years of drinking hell (there is no other word for my struggle and fear), and from my extensive research, training’s and coaching.

Under your physical skin, inside your mind, in your powerful inner world, you function the way all humans do – yes you can be very different in life situations, personally and professionally, but the human design is universal.

You are magical mix of the physical, emotional and the spiritual, and you are not designed to live as separate parts of your one whole.

Your glorious whole has basic needs that keep you connected, resilient and at peace. And it is when your basic needs are not met, that you drink. That is an absolute truth.

Traditional change therapies (I really don’t like that word!), focus on starting with changing your physical action of drinking, and relying on your not drinking, to bring your emotional and spiritual ‘parts’ on board, giving you connection and peace.

To me, that is the hardest way, and the most likely to ‘fail’ you, as the methods you are not working in your natural flow and synchronicity, but are instead attempting to bridge the gap physically, and then turning to heal your emotional and spiritual inner void, which is done, not by digging down and painfully dragging up your past (that’s not where the comfort is needed), but by offering you comfort in the NOW, by delivering on your basic needs to peacefully re-connect and realign you.

I understand that bridging the gap through the physical action of not drinking doesn’t work. The bridge of not drinking is a sticking plaster that does not stick. It is a bridge with no foundation that gets blown in the winds of life, leaving your void both vulnerable and empty of resources to protect you.

You must fill your void first, by knowing and nurturing your physical, emotional and spiritual wholeness, which can be done with grace and ease, and changes your drinking, effortlessly. I promise you.

To help you step gently on to the first steps of your journey to alcohol peace and freedom, I have created a lovely FREE workbook, The 10 Questions that Will Change Your Drinking, Effortlessly. This alone will shift your awareness away from your focus on alcohol being your fight, and back into you being your comfort.

To truly step into your life of peace and freedom from your alcohol stress, struggle and pain, you simply need to fill your the void you recognise, without fear of failure, added stress or any sense of struggle or deprivation. And that’s my zone of genius, through a process that I am very proud to have created, and own. Here’s what I offer;

My unique 6 week 1-2-1Rapid Alcohol Recovery Method has a completely different understanding to why you are trapped in your drinking patterns, and a completely different approach to ending it, without stress or struggle.

My process starts with bringing you into conscious awareness, the truth that your drinking action is only ever a reflection on your inner sepeartedness – your void.

In your very first session, you easily gain awareness of the inner conflict around your alcohol beliefs and you, that need to be realigned, and you feel that re-alignment instantly.

From there, changing your drinking is inevitable. It is simple as that.

My method is a series of new awareness’s, backed up by simple strategies that shift you lovingly back into the power and peace that comes with true alignment.

Here’s what some of my clients have to say about the freedom they enjoy from going through my Rapid Alcohol Recovery Method process

“All in all, my drinking has cost my family over £200,000 for me to feel more detached, not in control and less of a human being.

In my sessions with Sonia, and interim support I feel strong, confident and more at peace with myself than I can ever remember.

Alcohol is back in its proper place of just being a liquid and not some kind of all-consuming demon.

I never believed after all these years that this could happen. My Family and I thank you with all our hearts”

Ms N K

“Since we had our first session something amazing is happening. I feel as if I’m undergoing a total mind-set shift. I’ve been thinking about all the things we discussed, and I’ve been using the techniques you taught me, and I find that I really haven’t wanted to drink alcohol and if I have on a couple of occasions (I don’t never drink) I’ve easily stopped at 1-2 glasses. It seems incredible, but it’s true.

From where I easily stand now, I just cannot imagine that I would ever have wanted to abuse alcohol in the past and I feel strong and at peace. I have realized that I am the best friend I’ll ever have, thank you Sonia”

How Have You DECIDED To Drink?

10 QUESTIONS to Change Your Drinking, Effortlessly

Did you wake this morning with a thud of regret over last nights drinking?

Did your one glass become 3, then the bottle and maybe more?

Do you remember going to bed?

Or maybe the upset of last nights drinking makes you wish you could forget……….?

You didn’t plan to get drunk. You never do. No-one plans to be a neglectful, emotionally absent mother/wife/partner and yet, that’s where your drinking took you again………

  • How long ago did your drinking start to worry you?
  • When did your pick-me-up-glass of wine, slide into a bottle that drags-you-down?
  • Was it last week, last month, last year, or maybe you can’t even remember when it seems so long ago…..?
  • And how many times have you tried to break your drinking habit?
  • Once, twice, 100 times?
  • And finally, how has your ‘failure’ to change your drinking made you feel about you, and alcohol?

I know it made me frightened, confused and isolated.

I would look at others who could take-it-or-leave it in awe at their strength, and feel despair at my weakness.

Every thing I knew about my drinking compounded my fears. I knew what alcohol was doing to me physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually (although I didn’t know what the spiritual affects where, I felt the immense pain of of not being me).

And in all my knowing, in the information that was available everywhere, I could not change.

Does this resonate with you too?

But the one thing I never questioned, never investigated, just accepted blindly, was the accepted information around problem drinking – that alcohol was the problem – and how hard change would be. And so I stayed trapped.

Until I had a moment of awareness, that led to 1000 other awareness’s that opened my mind to different information, with a different name, WISDOM.

Information is rigid, Wisdom is flexible.

Information is created from other’s experiences, views, testing.

Wisdom is in you, about you and is an easy, joy to act on. It fits you, because it is you.

But while you continue to accept and abdicate your responsibility to relying/believing others information (even though you know it hasn’t worked for you ), you close the door to your Wisdom, and to the freedom from your drinking pain you deserve and desire.

To help you access the insights and new information that leads to your innate Wisdom, that knows and both gently laughs (and weeps at your struggle) at the idea that alcohol is the problem you will have to fight/be vigilant/mindful of, forever, I have created these 10 QUESTIONS, That will Change Your Drinking, Effortlessly.

Just download them, sit with, journal and reflect on you answers, and you will access your wisdom.

The truth within you that tells you everything you need to know and understand to release your alcohol fears, and have the clarity to accept, and act on, the simple self-loving actions that create your clear route from your alcohol pain to peace.

Did You Stay Dry This January, or Do You Feel Like You Are Drowning?

Did You Stay Dry This January, or Do You Feel Like You Are Drowning?

Dry January is the one month of the year where people are most committed to changing their drinking.

It’s a recognized 31 days alcohol break, where your friends and family are on board with your changes, cheering you on, removing temptation, joining you in your health and well being reset, and for all of those reasons (the main one being it has an expiry date), staying sober isn’t so much of a stress, more of an uplifting challenge with many participants in your own circle. An excellent foundation from which to achieve your sober days.

However, recent statistics show that by 5th January, 2.7 million had abandoned their Dry January alcohol reset!

2.7 million who were worried about their drinking and wanted to have a break, or make life long changes, have ‘given up’ by day 5!

Are you one of them? And if you are, what is different this January to previous ones where you sailed (ish) through the 31 days?

Does that sound like a question only a hermit could possibly ask? Someone who has lived in a cave for the last 13 months, cut off from any sort of world news?

Is that question even slightly insulting to you? Don’t I know what you are going through?

Life has become unpredictable (again).

You are in the 3rd Lockdown, COVID rates are soaring, hospitals are overflowing, schools are closed, you are(again), cut off from the physical contact and connection with your loves you crave, and that’s without all the normal feel good experiences of shopping, cinema, gyms, coffee shops etc all closed down too.

Of course you are drinking more, what else is there to comfort you, to bring you some sense of peace and calm in this turbulent Groundhog Day time? You are in more need of a drink, not less.

get that, I really do, I get that you are in more need of comfort, support, certainty, joy, peace and calm.

I get that you are in more need of companionship, connection, of ‘feeling better’.

And I know, in exactly the same way you do, that alcohol, does not, will not, CANNOT deliver any of the above, in fact it TAKES you further from them.

When times get harder, we tend to look for answers/comfort from the OUTSIDE world, and at the moment, the outside world is the problem, with Alcohol being a very large part of that outside world.

My intention and role as the Recovery Coach is to empower and support you, to bring you new awareness’s that allow for painless change, and here is an absolute truth that when you take it on board, will truly help you.

What you need to do, what you MUST do, to protect yourself, your health, your wellbeing, is to look INSIDE for the answers.

Inside YOU – the place where ALL the answers, the solutions, the comfort to every question, fear, anxiety and concern are, just waiting for you to access them.

Good Times pass as well as Bad Times, and when you look within in times of stress, and lean into your resourcefulness, you will re-balance and come back to you – the sober, relaxed you who isn’t looking for, does’t need an Outside world comfort.

You cannot change this situation at all. However you can change your PERCEPTION, your perspective of the situation, and by making the #Choice to shift your perspective, you are able to take a deep breath, have a different conversation with yourself, and the to easily deliver the comfort you are looking for.

The world doesn’t change, YOU do. Alcohol doesn’t change, YOU do, & when YOU change your perspective on the world around you, MIRACLES happen, fear and anxiety shift, & Alcohol becomes the take-it-or-leave it, occasional treat you want it to be.

Here’s some powerfully effective TIPS to support you gently shift your PERSPECTIVE

  • When you go into fear for a future you cannot know, go back to deep breathing, breath in for 7 out for 11 (the exhale is longer), this will bring you back from the future and into NOW – This is absolute truth.

This is a very powerful awareness – You cannot be anxious/fearful and be breathing deeply at the same time. It is a biological impossibility.

  • When you fear loss, go into profound #Gratitude for having what you fear losing
  • When you feel alone, be thankful for the time to slow down, and then make plans to re-connect via phone, Zoom, whatever works for you.

Whatever you are experiencing right now, your chosen perspective of your experience determines your need for comfort. Now sit with yourself quietly and explore, without judgement, what else you can shift to keep you safe

Then #Choose a PERSPECTIVE that delivers the comfort, peace, love and JOY, you lack and your need for a drink will disappear effortlessly. I promise you.

I have learnt so much from my own recent frightening COVID experience, which has been a gift to me, my life and my work with you.

Please take a look at my Rapid Alcohol Recovery Method page to understand more of my unique understanding and PERSPECTIVE on the role you have created for alcohol in your life and why it seems so hard to change.

Even if you choose to continue in your struggle for the next few weeks, months, please God not, years, you will get insight from my words there.

Be kind and gentle with yourself.

PS. If NOW is your time to change your drinking, effortlessly, here’s a Testimonial from a recent client who found changing her drinking easy and a joy. This is what’s waiting for you too.

“This has been the most powerful and enlightening process. My drinking changed in the first week, from a bottle and a half a night to nothing, and then a couple at the weekend which is what I wanted but thought I couldn’t have.

I feel so proud of myself and know that this is for life. I accept and forgive myself and my past wounds. I feel liberated and free and I feel me. This was so much more than a quit drinking program, of course it was because alcohol was not the problem. I will be telling everyone about you”

It’s OK, Not to Feel OK. Just Remember Your Drinking Makes You Feel Worse

It’s OK, Not to Feel OK. Just Remember Your Drinking Makes You Feel Worse

Another shift, another Lockdown, back to home schooling, business’s, coffee shops, closed. Back to an uncertainty that never really left you. All in all, LIFE seems to be on pause again, and it seems harder this time doesn’t it?

Now, I am a Re-Frame Queen ? I know how to shift my perspective to a view that supports me, that keeps me safe in every situation – & wow, with my brother’s dreadful, out of the blue, accident & appalling, life changing injuries last year, I really earned that crown!

But you don’t always have to brace yourself, pull your socks up, make the best of it, feel positive, or OK.

You don’t always have to walk on the Sunny Side of the street, sometimes it takes too much effort, and that’s OK too.

It’s OK, not to feel OK. ❤️

But it’s not OK, in your down times, to treat yourself carelessly, neglectfully – it’s not a reason to turn back to the non-comfort of ALCOHOL

When life is not OK, you must pause and recognise that what you truly need is to treat yourself with MORE Love, Care, Comfort & Attention to your needs.

When you take the time to pause, and breathe, you will notice your needs and be able to deliver them.

When you don’t take the time to pause and breathe, you go through your day, like the machine you are not, fueling your lack of care for yourself with alcohol to ‘keep you going’ to help you relax, to calm you down to brighten your day, when all you really need to do is STOP❤️

Here’s some simple tips to help you ❤️

  • Create a relaxed daily schedule that includes FUN
  • Walk outside
  • Rest – tell your loves you need time out, even if its just 20 minutes to be alone, to lie on your bed, to re-calibrate, and take it!
  • Drink more water (I am so back into my herbal teas – Lemon & Spiced Ginger)
  • Eat FOOD – simple food prepared with LOVE
  • Reach out when you need Comfort, Communication, Connection
  • Read books that engage/inspire, that you can get lost in
  • Watch TV that makes you laugh
  • Move gently through your days ❤️

All this WILL pass, you just have to DECIDE how you will come through it.

My 6 week Rapid Alcohol Recovery Method process is unique. It has a clear structure that is flexible and lovingly releases all your fears and blocks around what alcohol is in your life, why the methods you have used so far have make it feel it will be to hard to make lifelong changes, and gifts you back the woman you truly are, connected, accepting and at peace with you and life.

Be kind & gentle with yourself

Sonia x

It doesn’t’ matter where you are now, or how long you have been there, the life you are searching for is within you all the time, you just don’t know how to access it. I do.
